Social Bowls Evening – Thurs 10th Aug 2023

Not so much a visit, unless you regard the bowlers’ clubhouse next door to the main Fulwood Sports Club building as a destination in its own right, but we had a very enjoyable social bowls evening, followed by a pie and pea supper in the main bar, on one of the warmest and sunniest evenings of the year.
This was an opportunity for our more recent recruits to get to know long standing members, and vice versa, on a more social level than might normally be the case, and in that respect it was a great success.

Players were allocated four lanes on the bowling green, with teams of three competing against each other in each lane, making a total of 24 novice players plus four more experienced bowlers who did not compete but accompanied each match to offer tactical advice and explain the finer points. After 90 minutes’ play, we were joined for welcome drinks and supper in the clubhouse by those members who had spectated, some on medical grounds. We were indebted to Trevor Kelly, who masterminded the technical side of the evening, and Mike Etches, who liaised with FSC on the bar and catering.
