After such a build-up to his appearance it was always possible that we might have been disappointed. It was matter of minutes into his tales that we realised that there was no fear of that! A great raconteur and speaker who clearly has an innate ability to bring to life the stories he relates – what is more he can do the same in his books as the story leaps of the pages and you find yourself laughing out loud. Albeit a barrister with major murder cases to his credit he has not forgotten his humble beginnings and remains firmly with his feet on the ground. Normally he speaks after dinner but he had no difficulty in having us in tucks on mere coffee alone! A real delight! I can foresee a return visit.
