19th November — The International Financial Crisis of 2008 – Professor Tom Warke

A chal­len­ging talk to start the week. Tom’s present­a­tion was loaded with facts that showed how the crisis had developed in a detailed way. In sum­mary the Chinese and others saved too much of their GDP and inves­ted in the dollar thus giving the US banks a huge fund of money. This was inves­ted unwisely in subprime mort­gages and the rest is his­tory.
